MMM supports Education Key Stages and Curriculum Needs
MMM encompasses all the elements required in an all round physical training programme such as the development of agility, sense of rhythm, balance, control co-ordination, alertness and independence.
MMM is taught in some infant and junior schools;
Key stage 1 Physical Education & Music
MMM teachers support the children's school projects through the imaginative use of Health Play and the children's grades and creative dance. It encourages children to make movements which are natural and also allows for freedom of movement. It explores different speeds, levels, dynamics and expression, to promote personal exploration and discovery of movement. The children are also educated musically through the provision of a wide variety of music and tempos. The extensive diversity in creative elements allows for every child to grow in confidence, self-expression and can also provide an emotional outlet through escapism. Group and partner work improves the children's negotiating , communication and socialising skills while creating and exploring dance movement.
Through inspirational teaching of the MMM children's syllabus the pupils develop greatly in movement skills. The emphasis on natural therapeutic movement provides a corrective tool for all children including those with special needs. Various groupings and floor patterns are explored and improvisation is used as an ultimate instrument in advancing children's ability to express themselves with confidence.
Key stage 1 Music
The use of an extensive variety of music, musical instruments and rhythm broadens the pupils' depth of awareness in music and increases their imagination, expressiveness and adaptability of movement emphasis and style.
Key stage 2
MMM teachers support the children's school projects through the imaginative use of Health Play, 5 children's grades and creative dance.
The progressive element in the children's grades provides suitable stimuli to further the children creatively, emotionally, physically and intellectually. The improvisation and choreographic elements gently encourage the children to explore different ways to link their movements, devise dance phrases and movement patterns with a beginning middle and end. This area of MMT also improves the children's communication and negotiation skills.
Children articulate their feelings and moods through creative movement very effectively.
The continuous verbal support and careful direction gradually builds the children's confidence and encourages their ability to perform.
Key stage 2 Music
Exploration of percussive rhythm and a variety of music from a variety of periods and cultures continue to broaden the children's awareness of the diversity of music and how it makes you feel and move differently.
A Level Students
MM Dance Technique is an exciting modern dance method. The Syllabus's clear structure provides an ideal training for adolescents to improve their dance ability and provide them with a dance vocabulary.
MM has successfully supported 6th form students in their A Level Dance and Choreographic development. Dance Technique and improvisation is used as a tool to explore choreographic ideas and to enrich their individual qualities. MM teachers also introduce the students to a broad variety of other dance styles, making them aware of different movement styles. Students' individual ideas are encouraged as a base for new and exciting works. |
